Implant-Supported Dentures in Riverview

Implant-Supported Dentures in Riverview

If your denture slips when you talk, or you've started avoiding certain foods because you can't trust your lower plate to stay put, you're dealing with something very common — and very fixable. Many of our Riverview patients come to us after years of adhesives, sore spots and relines, wondering whether there's a more stable option. There is, and it's called an implant-supported denture: a full arch of teeth anchored to dental implants placed in the jaw, so your denture stays where you put it.

An implant-supported denture combines two treatments we provide at our Woodhaven office at 22500 Allen Rd., just a short drive for Riverview families. First, dental implants — small posts placed into the jawbone — act as anchors. Then a denture is made to connect to those anchors rather than resting loose on your gums. Depending on your needs, the denture may snap on and off for cleaning or be secured in place by your dentist.

We offer both traditional and mini dental implants, which gives us flexibility when planning treatment. Mini implants are narrower and can sometimes be an option for patients who have lost bone width over the years. If more support is needed, we also provide bone grafting in house. Because our practice includes general dentists and an oral and maxillofacial surgery capability, and because we accept patients without a referral, your implant placement and your denture work can be coordinated under one roof instead of bouncing between offices.

The biggest difference Riverview patients tell us about is confidence — eating, speaking and laughing without wondering what your teeth are doing. Because the denture is held by implants, it doesn't rely on suction or paste, and it covers your mouth differently than a conventional plate.

  • Stability when chewing, so a wider range of foods becomes realistic again
  • Less reliance on denture adhesives and fewer slipping moments mid-conversation
  • A secure fit that can reduce rubbing and sore spots from a shifting denture
  • Implants placed in the jaw, which become part of your long-term bite support
  • Options for both upper and lower arches, and for patients who already wear a complete denture

That said, implant-supported dentures aren't the only answer. We also make complete and partial dentures and traditional implant restorations like crowns and bridges. During your complimentary consultation, we'll talk honestly about what fits your mouth, your health and your budget — not just what's most involved.

Who Is a Good Candidate

Most adults who are missing all or nearly all of the teeth in an arch are worth evaluating. Good candidates generally have enough healthy jawbone to hold implants, or are willing to consider bone grafting to build that support. Healthy gums matter too, so if you've been living with gum disease, we'll usually address that first with scaling and root planing or other gum disease treatment before implants go in.

We also see Riverview patients who still have a few failing teeth left. In those cases, simple or surgical extractions can be part of the plan, and we can discuss how to keep you in teeth throughout the transition. Dental anxiety is not a disqualifier — we offer nitrous oxide sedation and IV sedation dentistry, plus a comfort menu with blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix and refreshments.

The Process and Your Aftercare

Treatment starts with a free consultation and exam, including X-rays, so we can see your bone and plan placement. From there, implants are placed surgically and given time to integrate with the bone. Your denture is designed to connect to those implants, and our on-site dental lab handles fabrication, adjustments, relines and repairs right here — which usually means fewer waiting periods and faster turnaround than sending work out.

Aftercare is straightforward but important. Expect some tenderness after surgery and follow the instructions we give you for eating and cleaning. Long term, you'll clean around the implants daily and keep up with regular exams, cleanings and periodontal maintenance so the gum and bone around each implant stay healthy. If a denture ever needs tightening, relining or repair, bring it in — our lab adjusts appliances on site. We also keep room for emergency appointments if something breaks unexpectedly.

Paying for Treatment

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and will run a complimentary benefits check so you know what's covered before you commit. We also welcome self-pay patients and accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

For larger cases, CareCredit financing is available. If you don't have insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under, with no deductibles, no waiting period and no annual maximum — exams, X-rays, two cleanings and two fluoride treatments covered at 100%, plus 20% to 50% off other treatment. Se habla español, and new patient specials are available. Call us to schedule your consultation.
