Composite Bonding

Why choose us

Benefits of Composite Bonding

Done In One Visit

Most bonding is shaped and polished in a single appointment, so you leave with your new smile that day.

Gentle On Your Tooth

Bonding usually preserves your natural tooth structure instead of removing it.

Natural-Looking Results

We blend the tooth-colored material to match the shade of your surrounding teeth.

Fixes Small Flaws

Chips, gaps, uneven edges and stained spots can all be smoothed over with bonding.

Budget-Friendly Options

We accept major PPO plans, self-pay, CareCredit financing and our in-house membership plan.

A chipped front tooth from a hockey puck, a gap that's always bothered you in photos, a tooth that's a shade darker than its neighbors — these are the everyday situations composite bonding was made for. Bonding uses a tooth-colored resin that we shape directly onto your tooth, sculpt by hand, and harden with a curing light. In many cases the whole thing happens in a single visit at our office on Allen Rd. in Woodhaven, with no lab wait and no temporary to wear home.

Composite bonding is a cosmetic and restorative treatment in which we apply a putty-like composite resin to the surface of a tooth, mold it to match the natural contours of your smile, and polish it until it blends with the surrounding enamel. The same family of material we use for tooth-colored dental fillings does double duty here — restoring strength where structure has been lost and improving appearance where a tooth looks worn, chipped, or uneven.

It helps a wide range of people. Adults who want a more even smile without committing to porcelain veneers often start with bonding. Teenagers who chip an edge playing sports come in for it. Patients with small spaces between front teeth, slightly short or irregularly shaped teeth, exposed root surfaces from gum recession, or stains that whitening can't lift are all candidates worth evaluating. Because we see patients of every age — from age one through adulthood — bonding frequently comes up during routine exams and cleanings, long before anyone has thought to ask about cosmetic work.

Your first step with us is a conversation, not a drill. We offer a complimentary consultation, and during it one of our five doctors will look at the tooth in question, check the surrounding gums and bite, and talk honestly about whether bonding is the right tool. Sometimes it isn't. A tooth with a large old restoration or significant structural loss may be better served by a crown, which our in-house dental lab can often produce the same day. A deep internal stain or a wish for a dramatic, uniform change might point toward porcelain veneers. If crowding or spacing is the real issue, we may suggest you speak with Dr. Sayed, our board-certified orthodontist, about Invisalign or braces first so that bonding can refine an already well-aligned smile rather than compensate for one that isn't.

A few practical things are worth knowing before you decide:

  • Composite resin is strong but not indestructible; it can chip under heavy force and may need occasional repair or replacement over the years.
  • Bonding material doesn't respond to whitening gel, so if you're considering in-office or take-home whitening, we generally recommend doing that first and matching the bonding to your new shade.
  • Coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco can stain composite over time, much as they stain natural enamel.
  • Most bonding requires little or no removal of healthy tooth structure, and anesthetic often isn't necessary.
  • Active decay or gum disease is treated first, since bonding should sit on a healthy foundation.

Aftercare and How Long Results Last

You can eat and drink normally as soon as you leave — the resin is fully hardened before you get up from the chair. We'll smooth and polish the bonding and check your bite carefully so nothing feels high or catches when you chew. If it does feel off in the days after, call us; a quick adjustment takes minutes.

Daily care is refreshingly ordinary: brush twice a day, floss around the bonded tooth, and keep up with your cleanings and exams so our hygienists can polish the composite and spot any wear early. Avoid using your front teeth as tools for opening packaging or biting fingernails, and if you grind at night, ask us about a custom night guard made in our on-site lab — protecting the bonding also protects the tooth underneath it. With sensible habits, bonding can look good for years before it needs refreshing.

Cost, Insurance, and Financing

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and provide a complimentary benefits check so you know what's covered before treatment begins. When bonding repairs a damaged or decayed tooth, insurance often contributes; purely cosmetic refinements typically don't, and we'll tell you which category yours falls into upfront.

For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under, covering exams, X-rays, two cleanings and two fluoride treatments at 100%, with 20% to 50% off other treatment — no deductibles, no waiting period, no annual maximum. CareCredit financing is available, and we accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
