Losing a tooth changes more than your smile. Chewing shifts to the other side, neighboring teeth start to drift, and a gap that felt minor at first can begin to affect how you speak, eat and feel in photos. Whether you lost a tooth to decay, an injury, gum disease or an extraction that happened years ago, replacing it is one of the most practical things you can do for your long-term oral health. At our Woodhaven office at 22500 Allen Rd., we help patients from Trenton, Riverview, Flat Rock and the surrounding communities sort through the options and choose a replacement that fits their mouth, their schedule and their budget.
Tooth replacement is the umbrella term for restoring one tooth, several teeth or a full arch. The right choice depends on how many teeth are missing, the condition of the teeth on either side of the space, the health of your gums, and how much jawbone is present to support a restoration.
Dental implants replace the root of the tooth with a post placed in the jaw, topped with a crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth. We offer both traditional and mini dental implants, which gives us flexibility when bone volume is limited. Bridges fill a gap by anchoring a replacement tooth to the teeth on either side, and are often a good fit when those neighboring teeth would benefit from crowns anyway. Dentures — complete or partial — restore larger spans, and implant-supported dentures add stability for patients who are tired of a denture that moves while they eat or talk. When bone or gum tissue needs reinforcement first, we also provide bone grafting and gum grafting in-house.
Good candidates are usually patients with healthy or treatable gums and enough bone to support the restoration being planned. That said, very few people are ruled out at the start. If gum disease is present, we treat it first with scaling and root planing or periodontal therapy. If bone has shrunk after years without a tooth, grafting can rebuild the foundation. If a damaged tooth still needs to come out, we handle simple and surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth, right here.
Timing matters too. Replacing a tooth sooner generally means less drifting and less bone loss to correct later, but it is never too late to ask. We start with a complimentary consultation and a full exam so you can see your options side by side before committing to anything. Nitrous oxide and IV sedation are available for patients who feel anxious about treatment, and our comfort menu — blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix and refreshments — is there for every appointment.
Why Our In-House Lab Makes a Difference
Most practices send crowns, dentures and appliances to an outside lab and wait. We make and adjust ours on site, which shortens turnaround and makes fine-tuning far easier.
- Same-day crowns and same-day dentures in many cases
- Relines, repairs and adjustments handled in-house instead of mailed out
- Shade and fit changes made while you are still in the chair
- Night guards and other appliances fabricated on site
Having five doctors under one roof helps as well. Our team includes general dentists, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial pathologist and a board-certified orthodontist, so surgical, restorative and alignment questions can be answered without sending you across town. We also accept oral surgery patients without a referral.
Aftercare and What Results Look Like
After an implant is placed, the area needs time to heal before the final crown goes on, and we will give you specific instructions for eating, cleaning and managing soreness in the first days. Bridges and dentures typically involve a shorter adjustment period, though new dentures almost always need a few follow-up visits to settle the fit — which is exactly the kind of tweaking our lab handles quickly.
Long term, replacement teeth need the same care as natural ones: brushing, cleaning around and under the restoration, and regular visits with our hygienist. We will show you the right tools for your particular restoration and keep an eye on the surrounding gum and bone at each checkup.
Paying for Treatment
We accept all major PPO plans, self-pay patients, and cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We will run a complimentary insurance benefits check so you know your coverage before treatment starts, and CareCredit financing is available for spreading payments out.
Without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for patients 17 and under, covering exams, X-rays, two cleanings and two fluoride treatments at 100%, plus 20% to 50% off other treatment — no deductibles, no waiting period, no annual maximum.
