A molar cracks under an old filling, or a front tooth that was knocked loose years ago finally needs to come out. Maybe a lower denture has never quite stayed put, and chewing a sandwich has become something you plan around. These are the moments when people start asking us about dental implants — and the question behind the question is usually the same: can I get back to eating, smiling, and talking without thinking about my teeth all day? For many of our patients in Woodhaven, Trenton, Riverview, and Flat Rock, implants are the answer.

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small post is placed in the jawbone where the natural root used to be, and over time the bone integrates with it, creating a stable foundation. On top of that foundation we attach a crown that is shaped and shaded to fit in with your other teeth. The result looks like a tooth, functions like a tooth, and is cared for like a tooth.

Implants also solve problems that go beyond a single gap. If you wear a complete or partial denture that slides, rocks, or needs adhesive to get through a meal, implant-supported dentures anchor the appliance so it stays where you put it. We also offer mini dental implants, which are smaller in diameter and can be an option in certain situations where a traditional implant isn't the best fit. Because we're a multi-doctor general practice with oral surgery and restorative care under one roof — and we accept oral surgery patients without a referral — we can handle the surgical and the restorative sides of your treatment in the same office, with the same team that knows your history.

Good implant candidacy comes down to a few practical things: healthy gums, enough bone to support the post, and a plan for anything else going on in your mouth. Missing teeth often come with company — gum disease, a tooth that needs to come out, or bone that has thinned in the years since a tooth was lost. None of that automatically rules you out. We treat gum disease with scaling and root planing and periodontal maintenance, we perform simple and surgical extractions, and we offer bone grafting to rebuild support where it's needed before an implant is placed.

Timing matters too. If a tooth is failing but still in place, it's worth talking with us sooner rather than later, because bone tends to shrink after a tooth is removed. We offer a complimentary consultation so you can get real answers about your own mouth — what's possible, what sequence makes sense, and what the alternatives are, including crowns, bridges, and dentures. Comfort is part of that conversation as well. We offer nitrous oxide sedation and IV sedation dentistry for patients who feel anxious about surgical visits, and our comfort menu includes blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix, and refreshments.

Healing, Aftercare, and What Results Look Like

Implant treatment unfolds over months rather than a single appointment, because the bone needs time to fuse with the post. During that healing period we keep an eye on the site and make sure you're comfortable, and we'll talk through what to eat, how to clean the area, and what's normal as things settle.

Once the final crown or implant-supported denture is in place, care is refreshingly ordinary: brush, floss, and keep up with regular cleanings and exams so our hygienists can monitor the gum and bone around the implant. Our on-site dental lab is a real advantage here. Crowns, dentures, night guards, and other appliances are made and adjusted in the building, which means same-day crowns and dentures in many cases, plus relines and repairs without long waits. If you grind your teeth, a custom night guard made in that same lab helps protect your investment.

Paying for Implant Treatment

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and will run a complimentary benefits check so you know what your plan covers before you commit to anything. We also welcome self-pay patients and accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

For larger treatment plans, CareCredit financing lets you spread payments out over time. If you don't have dental insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for patients 17 and under, with exams, X-rays, two cleanings, and two fluoride treatments covered at 100%, plus 20% to 50% off other treatment — no deductibles, no annual maximum, no waiting period, and no pre-authorizations.
