Dentures in Riverview

Missing teeth change everyday life in small, constant ways — skipping the salad at a family dinner, covering your mouth in photos, repeating yourself because words come out differently. For our patients from Riverview, dentures are often the most direct way to get those ordinary moments back. Our office at 22500 Allen Rd. in Woodhaven is a short drive for Riverview families, and because we build and adjust dentures in our own on-site lab, a lot of the waiting and back-and-forth that people dread simply isn't part of the process here.
A denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth and the gum tissue around them. There are two main types, and we make both.
Complete dentures replace a full arch — all the upper teeth, all the lower teeth, or both. They're the right fit when the remaining teeth can't be saved because of advanced decay, fracture, or gum disease, or when a patient is already without teeth in one or both arches. Partial dentures replace several missing teeth while your healthy natural teeth stay right where they are. The partial clasps onto or rests against those remaining teeth, which also helps keep them from drifting into the open spaces over time.
Choosing between them usually comes down to what's still in your mouth and what's worth keeping. If you have strong, stable teeth, we'd rather preserve them and fill the gaps with a partial. If teeth are failing one after another and you're in a cycle of repairs and emergency visits, a complete denture may be the more predictable path. We also offer implant-supported dentures for patients who want more stability than a traditional denture provides, using traditional or mini dental implants to hold the appliance in place.
Everything starts with a complimentary consultation. We look at your teeth, gums, and bite, take X-rays, and talk honestly about your options — including whether a bridge, crown, or implant might serve you better than a denture. We'll also run a complimentary check of your insurance benefits so you know where you stand before you commit to anything.
If extractions are needed, our doctors handle simple and surgical extractions here, so you aren't sent somewhere else mid-treatment. From there we take impressions and records, and our in-house lab gets to work. Our lab also makes same-day dentures, which matters when you don't want to spend time without teeth. You'll come in for try-ins and fittings so we can check the bite, the fit, and how the teeth look before anything is finalized. Nothing is delivered until it looks and feels right to you.

Settling In and Caring for Your Dentures
The first couple of weeks take some getting used to. Speech evens out with practice — reading aloud at home helps more than people expect. Eating is easier if you start with softer foods cut small and chew on both sides at once, then add back the foods you miss. Sore spots are normal early on and are usually fixed with a quick adjustment, which we can often do while you wait rather than sending work out and asking you to come back.
Long term, clean your dentures daily, take them out at night unless we tell you otherwise, and keep coming in for exams. Your gums and jawbone change shape over the years, so even a perfectly made denture will eventually need a reline to fit snugly again. Our lab handles relines and repairs on site, which means Riverview patients aren't left without their teeth while something is mailed away. We also screen for oral cancer and check your remaining teeth and gums at every visit — partial denture wearers especially need those supporting teeth kept healthy.
