Dental Implants in Flat Rock

A missing tooth changes more than your smile. The bone that once supported that tooth begins to shrink, neighboring teeth drift toward the gap, and chewing shifts to one side of your mouth. Dental implants address that chain reaction at its source by replacing the root of the tooth, not just the part you see. For our patients from Flat Rock, that means a replacement tooth that is anchored in the jaw, cared for like a natural tooth, and planned by a team that handles the surgery, the restoration, and the lab work under one roof at our Woodhaven office on Allen Rd.

An implant is a small post, placed into the jawbone, that serves as an artificial tooth root. Once the bone has healed around it, we attach a connector and then a custom crown on top. The result looks and functions like a tooth: you brush it, floss around it, and chew with it. Implants can replace a single tooth, support a bridge across several missing teeth, or anchor implant-supported dentures so a full arch stops slipping and rocking.

We also offer mini dental implants, which use a narrower post and can be an option for patients with less bone width or those looking to stabilize an existing denture. During your consultation we will explain which approach fits your situation, how many implants would be involved, and what the restoration on top would look like. Flat Rock patients often come to us after years of managing a loose partial or avoiding certain foods — the conversation usually starts with what you want to be able to eat and how you want your smile to look.

Most adults missing one or more teeth are candidates, but a few things matter. We look at the amount and quality of bone at the site, the health of your gums, and your overall health history. If gum disease is present, we treat it first with scaling and root planing or periodontal therapy, because healthy gum tissue supports a lasting result. If bone has already been lost, bone grafting can rebuild the site so an implant has something solid to hold onto — and we perform grafting here as part of our oral surgery services.

Some patients need a tooth removed before an implant can be placed. We handle simple and surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth, so you are not sent across town mid-treatment. Others arrive wearing complete or partial dentures and want to know if implants can anchor what they already have. All of that is worth discussing in person, and our consultations are complimentary.

What the Implant Process Looks Like

Treatment happens in stages, and knowing the sequence makes it far less intimidating:

  • Consultation and imaging — we examine the site, review X-rays and your health history, and lay out options and costs before anything is scheduled.
  • Preparation if needed — extraction, gum disease treatment, or bone grafting, with healing time built in.
  • Implant placement — a surgical appointment to position the post in the jaw. Nitrous oxide and IV sedation are available for patients who want to be more relaxed.
  • Healing — the bone integrates with the implant over a period of months while you wear a temporary restoration as needed.
  • Final restoration — we attach the abutment and place your custom crown, bridge, or denture attachment.

Our on-site dental lab is a real advantage during the restorative phase. Crowns, dentures, and appliances are made and adjusted here, so fit-and-finish changes that would normally mean mailing a case out and waiting can often be handled much faster. The lab also handles relines and repairs, which matters for denture patients transitioning to implant support.

Caring for Implants After Treatment

Right after surgery, expect some swelling and tenderness. We send you home with specific instructions on diet, rinsing, and activity, and we are available if something does not feel right — we keep room in the schedule for emergency appointments. Soft foods for a stretch, no poking at the site, and following the medication plan go a long way.

Long term, implants need the same attention as natural teeth: brushing twice daily, cleaning around the implant, and regular visits with our hygienist for cleanings and periodontal maintenance. If you grind your teeth, we can make a night guard in our lab to protect your investment.

Paying for Implant Treatment

We accept all major PPO plans and will run a complimentary benefits check so you know what your plan contributes before you commit. We also accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, and welcome self-pay patients.

For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under, with no deductibles, no waiting period, no annual maximum, and 20% to 50% off treatment beyond the covered exams, X-rays, cleanings, and fluoride. CareCredit financing is available to spread payments over time. Se habla español, and patients of all ages from Flat Rock are welcome.
