Implant-Supported Dentures in Flat Rock

Implant-Supported Dentures in Flat Rock

A denture that clicks securely onto dental implants behaves very differently from one that rests on the gums alone. Instead of relying on suction, adhesive paste, and the shape of your ridge, an implant-supported denture anchors to small titanium posts placed in the jawbone. For our patients from Flat Rock who have spent years adjusting, re-pasting, and working around a loose lower denture, that difference is usually the first thing they notice — biting into a sandwich without the denture shifting, and talking without bracing the front teeth with the tongue.

Implant-supported dentures combine two treatments we provide under one roof at our Woodhaven office at 22500 Allen Rd., a short drive for Flat Rock residents. First, dental implants are placed into the jaw to act as replacement tooth roots. Then a full or partial denture is made to attach to those implants, either snapping on and off for cleaning or being fixed in place by your dentist. We offer both traditional and mini dental implants, which gives us flexibility in matching the implant approach to your bone and your goals.

The denture itself is crafted in our on-site dental lab. Having the lab in the building means fittings, adjustments, relines, and repairs happen here rather than being mailed out and waited on. If something feels high or rubs a sore spot, we can often address it the same day instead of asking you to make a second trip back from Flat Rock.

Most people who are already wearing a complete or partial denture — or who are facing the loss of their remaining teeth — are worth evaluating for this treatment. Candidacy depends largely on jawbone volume, gum health, and overall health. If bone has resorbed after years of missing teeth, bone grafting can sometimes rebuild the foundation, and we perform grafting here as part of our oral surgery services. If gum disease is present, we treat that first with scaling and root planing or periodontal therapy so the implants have healthy tissue around them.

We start with a complimentary consultation. That visit includes an exam and imaging, a conversation about whether you want a removable snap-on denture or a fixed option, and an honest discussion of what your mouth can support today. Some Flat Rock patients come to us mid-problem — a failing bridge, a cracked denture, or teeth that are no longer restorable — and because we offer emergency appointments and same-day dentures, we can stabilize things before the longer implant plan begins.

What the Process Involves

Treatment generally unfolds in stages, with healing time between them. Any hopeless teeth are removed first, using simple or surgical extraction, with bone grafting placed where needed. Implants are then placed in the jaw and left to integrate with the bone. During healing, you are not left without teeth — a temporary or existing denture is adjusted to wear. Once integration is confirmed, attachments are connected and your final denture is fabricated and fitted in our lab.

Comfort is planned into every step. We offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation, so patients who feel anxious about surgery have real options. Our comfort menu — blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix, and refreshments — is available throughout. Here's what Flat Rock patients can generally expect across the course of care:

  • A free consultation with exam and imaging before any commitment
  • Extractions, grafting, and implant placement handled in-house, with no referral needed
  • A healing period while implants integrate, with an interim denture to wear
  • Final denture designed and adjusted in our on-site lab
  • Follow-up visits for fit, comfort, and long-term maintenance

Caring for Your New Denture

Daily care is straightforward but important. Removable implant dentures come out for cleaning, and the implant attachments and surrounding gum tissue need brushing just like natural teeth. Fixed options require careful cleaning around and under the bridge. The attachment components that hold a snap-on denture in place wear over time and are replaced periodically — a routine adjustment, not a failure.

We ask implant-denture patients to keep regular hygiene appointments with our hygienist so we can monitor gum health and bone levels around each implant. Relines and repairs, when they're needed, are done in our lab. Our doctors — Dr. Ghannam, Dr. Pflum, Dr. Kana, and Dr. Elmuradi — share care across the practice, so there's always someone available when you need attention.

Paying for Treatment

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and provide a complimentary benefits check so you know your coverage before treatment begins. We also welcome self-pay patients and accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under, with no deductibles, waiting periods, or annual maximum. It covers exams, X-rays, two cleanings, and two fluoride treatments at 100%, plus 20% to 50% off other treatment. CareCredit financing is available to spread implant treatment over monthly payments.
