Implant-Supported Dentures in Woodhaven

Implant-Supported Dentures in Woodhaven

A denture that slips during dinner, a lower plate that never quite stays put, adhesive applied two or three times a day — these are the everyday frustrations that bring many of our Woodhaven neighbors into our office at 22500 Allen Rd. Others come to us before they've ever worn a denture at all, facing the loss of failing teeth and wanting to know what their options are before anything is removed. In both cases, the conversation often turns to implant-supported dentures: a way to anchor a full or partial denture to dental implants placed in the jawbone, so the teeth stay where you put them.

An implant-supported denture combines two familiar treatments. Dental implants — small posts placed into the jawbone — act as replacement tooth roots. A denture is then designed to connect to those posts rather than resting on the gums alone. Depending on your needs, the denture may snap on and off for cleaning, or it may be fixed in place and removed only by your dentist.

The difference patients notice most is stability. A traditional complete or partial denture relies on suction, the shape of the ridge, and often adhesive. An implant-supported denture borrows its support from the bone underneath, which changes how confidently you can bite into food, speak at a family gathering, or laugh without thinking about it. For lower dentures especially, where there is less ridge to hold onto, that added anchorage can be the deciding factor.

We offer both traditional and mini dental implants, which gives us flexibility when bone volume or budget is a consideration. Which approach fits you is something we determine together, not something decided before we've looked.

  • Improved chewing confidence with foods that loose dentures make difficult
  • No reliance on adhesive for day-to-day wear
  • A more secure fit for lower dentures, where conventional plates often struggle most
  • Preservation of jawbone stimulation through the implant posts
  • Easier speech and comfort, since the denture is not shifting against the gums
  • Removable or fixed designs, chosen around how you want to clean and care for it

Good candidates generally have enough healthy bone to support implants and gum tissue in reasonable condition. If gum disease is present, we treat that first with scaling and root planing or periodontal therapy. If bone volume is thin — common after teeth have been missing for years — bone grafting may be recommended to build a stable foundation. We also see patients who still have teeth that cannot be saved; in those cases, simple or surgical extractions become part of the plan.

Age is rarely the limiting factor. We treat patients of all ages here, and our denture and implant patients range widely. What matters more is your overall health, your bone, and your goals.

What the Process Looks Like at Our Woodhaven Office

It starts with a complimentary consultation. We examine your mouth, take X-rays, discuss what you've tried before, and talk honestly about which option fits — whether that's implant-supported dentures, a complete or partial denture, or individual implants and crowns.

From there, any preparatory work comes first: extractions, grafting, or gum treatment as needed. Implants are then placed and given time to integrate with the bone. Because we have general dentists and oral surgery capability under one roof and accept patients without a referral, Woodhaven patients are usually not sent across town for separate stages of care.

Our in-house dental lab is a meaningful part of this. Dentures, crowns and appliances are made and adjusted on site, including same-day dentures, relines and repairs. If a fit needs refining after your implants heal, we are not waiting on an outside lab to send something back. For sedation needs, we offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation, and our comfort menu — blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix, refreshments — is available throughout.

Caring for Your New Teeth

Implant-supported dentures need daily cleaning around the attachments and under the denture, along with regular hygiene visits. Our hygienists handle periodontal maintenance and monitor the tissue around each implant, since healthy gums are what keep implants stable long term. Snap-on designs come out nightly for cleaning; fixed designs are cleaned in place with tools we'll show you how to use.

Relines and small adjustments are normal over time, and we handle those here. If something breaks or feels wrong, we offer emergency appointments.

Paying for Treatment

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and provide a complimentary benefits check so you know your coverage before you commit. CareCredit financing is available for spreading payments out.

For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under — no deductibles, no annual maximum, no waiting period, no pre-authorizations. Exams, X-rays, two cleanings and two fluoride treatments are covered at 100%, with 20% to 50% off other treatment. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Se habla español.
