Cosmetic Dentistry in Woodhaven

You notice it in photos first — a front tooth that looks shorter than the one beside it, an old filling that has darkened at the edge, or teeth that simply aren't as bright as they used to be. Maybe a chip from years ago never got fixed, or your gum line sits higher on one tooth than the next. These are the everyday concerns that bring people to our Woodhaven office at 22500 Allen Rd., and they're the reason cosmetic dentistry exists: to change how your teeth look while keeping them healthy and functional.
Cosmetic dentistry is a group of treatments focused on the appearance of your smile — color, shape, size, alignment and the way your gums frame your teeth. At our practice, that includes teeth whitening (both in-office and take-home), composite bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns, and gum contouring or crown lengthening when the gum line is part of the issue. For patients whose main concern is crooked or crowded teeth, orthodontic options like Invisalign, clear aligners and braces often accomplish the cosmetic goal, and we have a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Ila Sayed, on staff.
What separates cosmetic work from a purely functional repair is the planning. A chipped front tooth can be rebuilt in a way that simply closes the gap, or it can be shaped and shaded to match the tooth next to it so no one notices anything was done. We aim for the second. Because we are a general practice treating all ages, cosmetic treatment is rarely considered in isolation — we look at decay, gum health, bite and existing restorations first, so that the new appearance holds up.
Most adults in Woodhaven who want a cosmetic change are good candidates, but the starting point is always health. Active decay, untreated gum disease or a tooth that needs root canal therapy comes first; placing veneers or whitening over an unstable foundation doesn't serve anyone. That's why we begin with an exam, X-rays and an honest conversation about what's realistic for your teeth.
Candidacy also depends on the concern itself. Surface staining often responds well to whitening alone. Deeper discoloration, worn edges or small gaps may be better handled with bonding or porcelain veneers. A tooth that is heavily filled or cracked may need a crown, which we can often make in our on-site dental lab. Gum lines that look uneven or show a lot of tissue when you smile may call for gum contouring or crown lengthening. We offer a complimentary consultation so you can hear which of these apply to you before committing to anything.
What the Process Looks Like
After your consultation and exam, we build a plan in stages and tell you what each step involves, how many visits to expect, and what the sequence will be. Whitening is typically the simplest path — an in-office session, or custom take-home trays you use on your own schedule. Bonding is usually completed in a single appointment, with tooth-colored composite shaped directly onto the tooth. Veneers and crowns take more than one visit and involve preparing the tooth, confirming shade and shape, and fitting the final restoration.
Our in-house lab is a practical advantage for Woodhaven patients here. Crowns, dentures, night guards and other appliances are made and adjusted on site, which means same-day crowns and same-day dentures in many cases, along with relines and repairs without long waits. Comfort matters throughout — we offer nitrous oxide sedation and IV sedation when appropriate, plus a comfort menu with blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix and refreshments.

Caring for Your Results
Cosmetic results last longer with ordinary good habits. Keep up with regular cleanings and exams with our hygienist, brush and floss daily, and limit the staining foods and drinks that dull whitening over time. Take-home whitening trays make touch-ups easy. If you grind your teeth, a night guard — also made in our lab — protects bonding, veneers and crowns from wear and chipping.
Paying for Cosmetic Treatment
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and self-pay patients, and we'll run a complimentary benefits check so you know what applies. CareCredit financing is available for treatment you'd rather spread out.
For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for ages 18 and up and $99 for ages 17 and under, with no annual maximum, deductible, waiting period or pre-authorizations. It covers exams, X-rays, two cleanings and two fluoride treatments at 100%, plus 20% to 50% off other treatment. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Se habla español.
