Affordable Without Insurance
Our in-house membership plan covers two cleanings and two fluoride treatments a year at 100 percent.
You brush twice a day, floss most nights, and still notice a rough patch behind your lower front teeth or a little blood in the sink. That's the most common reason people sit in our hygiene chair in Woodhaven — not because something has gone wrong, but because plaque hardens into tartar in places a toothbrush simply can't reach. A professional cleaning removes that buildup, and in the process gives us a close look at the health of your teeth and gums before small problems turn into expensive ones.
A dental cleaning, also called a prophylaxis, is the removal of plaque, tartar (hardened plaque), and surface stain from above and just below the gumline. Our hygienist uses hand instruments and ultrasonic scalers to clear buildup, then polishes the teeth to leave them smooth, since smooth enamel gives bacteria less to cling to. Most patients do well with two cleanings a year, which is also how often many PPO plans cover them.
Cleanings help a wide range of people. Parents bring children starting around age one, and we see teens in braces who need extra help cleaning around brackets and wires. Adults who grind, who smoke, who take medications that dry the mouth, or who've had gum problems in the past often benefit from closer attention. We treat children with special healthcare needs, and we see patients of every age in the same family practice, so one appointment block can cover several generations without multiple stops.
Not every mouth needs the same type of cleaning, and it's fair to know that before you arrive. If your gums are healthy, a routine cleaning and polish is all that's required. If X-rays and gum measurements show tartar below the gumline with bone loss, we may recommend scaling and root planing — a deeper cleaning of the root surfaces, usually done with the area numbed — followed by periodontal maintenance visits on a shorter interval. We'll explain what we see and why before anything is scheduled, never after.
A cleaning rarely travels alone. It usually pairs with a dental exam, X-rays as needed, and an oral cancer screening, and fluoride treatment is often added for children and for adults with a history of decay. Sealants are another common companion for young molars. If the exam turns up a cavity, a cracked filling, or a tooth that needs more than cleaning, our five doctors handle fillings, crowns, root canals, implants, and oral surgery here in the same building, with an in-house lab for crowns, dentures, and night guards.
Comfort During Your Visit
Sensitive teeth and tender gums are the two things people mention most when they've put off a cleaning. We go at your pace, and comfort is a stated priority for our whole team, not an afterthought. Our comfort menu includes blankets, warm towels, neck pillows, headphones, Netflix, and refreshments, and nitrous oxide sedation is available for patients who need help relaxing. For those with greater anxiety or more involved treatment, IV sedation dentistry is offered as well.
Se habla español, so Spanish-speaking patients can ask questions and get answers in their own language. If you're overdue by years rather than months, that's genuinely fine — we'd rather see you now than not at all.
After Your Cleaning and Keeping Results
Teeth often feel noticeably smoother right away, and surface stain from coffee or tea is usually reduced. Some tenderness or sensitivity to cold for a day or two is normal, especially after a deeper cleaning, and warm salt-water rinses help. Brush gently along the gumline and keep flossing — gums that bled during the visit typically settle down as inflammation decreases with consistent care at home.
Results hold when cleanings stay on schedule. We'll recommend an interval based on what we find, and we'll let you know if a night guard would protect your enamel from grinding or if whitening, in-office or take-home, makes sense once your teeth are clean.
Insurance, Membership, and Payment
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and offer a complimentary insurance benefits check so you know your coverage before treatment. Self-pay patients are welcome, and we take cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan is $199 a year for adults and $99 for ages 17 and under. It covers exams, X-rays, two cleanings, and two fluoride treatments a year at 100%, with 20% to 50% off other treatment — no annual maximum, deductibles, waiting periods, or pre-authorizations. CareCredit financing is also available for larger treatment plans.
If it's been a while, call our office at 22500 Allen Rd. in Woodhaven and we'll find you a time. We're glad to see patients from Trenton, Riverview, Flat Rock, and throughout the area.
